Group of Eight (G8) is a forum for governments of eight nations: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK, and the USA.
G8 has evolved from the original G6 forum created to coordinate member countries macroeconomic policies and to formulate a common strategy in dealing with the developing world.
Each calendar year, the responsibility of hosting the G8 rotates through the member states.
