UNIVersal Automatic Computer the first commercial computer produced in the United States (1951-1954). It was designed by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, the inventors of the ENIAC. UNIVAC I used 5,200 vacuum tubes and could perform about 1,905 operations per second running on a 2.25 MHz clock. The main memory consisted of 1000 words of 12 characters.
