Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is the license applied to the version of UNIX operating system developed and distributed by the Computer Systems Research Group of the University of California, Berkeley.

The original license used on BSD Unix had four clauses. Actual FreeBSD-like license has only 3 clauses approved by OSI.
